At the Rystad Energy NCS Performance Awards on Thursday January 28, 2010, Sevan Marine was awarded "Globetrotter of the year" for the best performer meeting the criteria:
- Product or service developed in Norway
- Technology content
- Strong growth in revenue outside Norway last years, recent breakthrough, sales in multiple countries
- Growing/emerging market
- International success based on strategic moves
- Specific product or service may be considered
The reasoning for the award of the Globetrotter to Sevan stated: "The winner is an excellent example of the Norwegian oil service business in demonstrating the creativity in rethinking established concepts and bringing up completely new products. Further, in producing its products the winner has extensively included technology from other Norwegian companies, supporting the Norwegian oil service cluster. The winner has successfully brought its technology to the international market, and is taking on a role as one of the to-be big players. Eventually, the winner this year even won a contract in the home market!"
